Ever since I wrote this, Denise has asked if I really mean it about getting rid of the ship models. I just can't bring myself to do it. I think deep down I really want to get back into it. So, I have decided to move them out of the closet and into my shop. At least she won't have to look at them that way.

My husband says that I'm passionately ADD. I believe that life is an adventure and a journey and to try different hobbies makes a richer soul. Some you stick with, others you pack away just in case, and others you fondly say goodbye. Just because I'm not scrapbooking now doesn't mean my children won't want to try or that I won't get back into it when I teach them. So now I'm knitting....socks.... we'll they're small and I don't have to pack much around. I can't scrapbook on a school bus. We are artistic and creative people. Let's not worry about boxes of hobbies. Worry if you don't have boxes of hobbies.

That IS powerful stuff. I can see where I have much the same problem. I think I have been more successful in dismissing outdated interests in some cases, though. Take my miniature war-gaming. I have a lot of stuff I bought that is just sitting around in closets. I don't do it, and it doesn't bother me (though I can't quite bring myself to get rid of it, either). Now and then an opportunity presents itself, I get the stuff out, play a game or two, and then it goes back in the closet. It has become for me something I do for/with other people, and until those people want to do it, I evidently feel free to ignore it.

And to think people look down on dilettantes. ;-)
