Bethlehem, Israel is home to some of the oldest olive vineyards in the world. My contact there prunes the trees, keeping them vital and productive. The larger limbs are stored in a cave for six months for the wood to season. He then ships it to me. This pen has beautiful grain and has a slight curl in it, rare for olive. This is your opportunity to have a piece of the olive trees that have been around for hundreds of years. The Jr. Statesman features a special medallion and centerband made from gold titanium. The special clip provides an extra bit of elegance.

Wood: Buckeye Burl

Finish: Gold Titanium and platinum

Buckeye Burl is one of the most surprising woods I have ever worked with. I never know what it is going to look like until I’m finished. The colors range from cream, brown, grey and black. The figure swirls all over the place and the eyes are stunning. This pen looked as black as ebony when I started. Once I started working it, all the other colors suddenly appeared. What I thought was going to be ugly turned out to be one of the prettiest buckeye burl pens I have made. The Jr. Statesman accents really set off this wood. It will definitely be a conversation piece where ever you use it. This is one rare, unique piece of wood. The ceramic rollerball makes for the nicest, smoothest writing experience you will ever have. I was recently introduced to Black Ash Burl. All I can say is “Wow!” This wood is beautiful. Each piece is so unique, too. This piece has hundreds of tiny eyes. This is a pen that will catch attention every time you take it out. The Statesman features carved medallions and center band highlights made from black titanium. The German-made ceramic tipped rollerball provides the smoothest writing experience you will ever have. If you are a leftie, don’t worry about smears as this ink dries instantly.

Amboyna burl is from Southeast Asia. The heartwood is a beautiful red, with swirls and bubbles in the grain. Called the “Cadillac of Burls”, it is one of the most sought after for its beauty.
